Roxie Cinema, 22 in x 30 in. I painted this 16th Street scene in 1983. For Christmas that year, I gave the framed painting to Robert Evans, co-founder of the Roxie, and filmaker Curt McDowell, his husband. The Roxie had postcards printed of this painting, and you could buy one for $1 at the candy counter. The painting hung in the lobby of the Roxie for many years. It was thought to have been lost when the theater changed hands. However, I recently discovered that it was rescued at that time by Bill Banning, co-owner of the Roxie from 1976-2010. I am pleased to say it found a good home.
